The big air grab!

While results were being tabulated from January 23rd's Giant Slalom Snowboard Competition at Snowshoe Mountain, we visited some other snowboarding activities. Along with some of West Virginia's most exciting ski slopes, like those used for the GS, Snowshoe's Silver Creek Area offers the challenge of their Mountain Terrain Park. This trail, scattered from top to bottom with jumps in excess of 10 feet and complete with a halfpipe over 75 yards long, is not for the weak of heart.

Reaching for the sky!

With sufficient speed skiers and boarders alike are launched skyward and provided with enough air time to execute impressive grabs, twists, and flips. After awe-inspiring feats it's the the ability to perform a smooth landing that utterly amazes the ski-lifting spectators. After you've mastered the slopes, you too can try your luck at this snow enthusiast's playground. And as you can see from these pictures, rain or shine, its always a pretty wicked time.
