Trail Maintenance for the Appalachian Classic Begins
By Diann Clothier
|
Out with the old...
Seventeen people showed up on Saturday, April 7th, for the first work
day in preparation for the 2001 Appalachian
Classic (June 16-17th) at Calhoun County Park. Boy Scout Troop 39
(last 2 pics) did a great job raking the single track and stabilizing
some of the track, while the big guys (Don Price, Bryan Sterns, Mike
Offut, Espe Clothier, and Billy Bonds) attacked the fallen and rotten
timber along "Wet & Wild". Needless to say, bikers will NOT have to
duck this year - the logs they used to have to ride under either sank,
or were sufficiently rotted to make taking them out of the way a
necessity.
It looks more like training for a log rolling competition, but,
really, they are clearing the trail!
Unless otherwise noted, the photos below are varying combinations of
Donnie Price, Bryan Sterns, Mike Offut, Espe Clothier, and Billy
Bonds.
