It was a hot weekend for Chris Eatough and the Trek/VW East Coast Factory Team. Eatough took the win at both the "Wilderness 101" ultra-endurance cross country race near State College, Pennsylvania, and the Mid Atlantic Super Series race held at Fairmount Park, Philadelphia.

Saturday's "Wilderness 101" was a 101-mile, single loop, cross-country race held in the Rothrock Mountains. Eatough's endurance expertise and super-plush Trek Fuel full-suspension mountainbike paid off, as he took almost 30-minutes off the course record to win in just 7 hours, 4 minutes. That's an average speed over 14 mph on terrain that included several mountain climbs and enough rocky off-camber singletrack to reduce even hard-cord riders to tears.

Sunday's race provided a complete contrast, showcasing the incredible diversity of mountain bike events in the mid-Atlantic. The trails at Fairmont Park provided a "BMX track in the woods" type race, testing high-speed bike handling, lightning-fast reactions, and repeated bursts of power. Eatough shot off the line on his lightweight Trek 9.8 mountainbike, grabbed the holeshot into the singletrack, and never looked back, winning the 20-mile race by over 7 minutes.

Other great news for the day was the return to competition of Trek/VW rider Kristine Oesterling. After feeling under the weather for the early summer, Kristine is feeling better, and showed it by battling through the Philly heat and humidity for a 2nd place in the women's expert race.
