Critical Mass ride in Parkersburg! Join us!
|
Where: This ride starts at the Parkersburg South High School Horseshoe. Everyone is welcome. Families and children of all ages encouraged to attend!
What: A critical mass is a bicycle ride organized to celebrate cycling and to demonstrate cyclists' right to use the road. This is intended to be an educational, friendly event. It is important that all state and city biking laws are followed while in this ride. There will be plenty of experienced bikers to help you know how to do that. Just follow their example. Two Parkersburg Police Officers will be riding with us as well. We are extremely grateful for their support, thank you!
Currently Greg Garrett is coordinating the development of two routes for the event, a short distance route and a longer route. Yea Greg! This project is about awareness AND bringing the community together in planning and organizing. We are very grateful for the input and help we are receiving from active citizens. Want to help? We can change the community! Step up and help if you can.
Helmets: By law, those under 15 must wear a helmet. If you cannot afford one, please contact the Arc of the Mid-Ohio Valley (304)-422-3151.

About the Mid-Ohio Valley Bicycle Council: *The Mid-Ohio Valley Bicycle Council was formed as part of the PARK program. PARK is supported by Adventure Pursuit with two AmeriCorps VISTAs implementing physical activity programs through a grant by the Bernard McDonough Foundation. Financial support and marketing for its programs has been provided by the Sister's of St. Joseph Charitable Fund, WV Cycling Foundation, Stonewall Group, and Adventure Pursuit.
What is the PARK program? The PARK program is designed to get folks active in their own neighborhoods; however when the streets and front yards are unsafe to play in something has to happen for change to take place. One of PARK's goals is to make it safer to go out and play. This event has been organized in support of that goal.
