This year we are celebrating our 30th Anniversary! Join us for a 3-day, 100-mile ride on the Greenbrier River Trail. Cyclists with varying levels of experience are invited. All meals, lodging and transportation included, as well as sag service, medics and mechanics.

2017 Schedule

  • Thursday, May 18 - The event begins with registration on Thursday evening, at the Greenbrier Valley Youth Camp in Anthony, WV. Participants will then be bused to Snowshoe Mountain Resort to enjoy an evening at the pool and meet-and-greet with their fellow trekkers. Lodging is provided at the Inn at Snowshoe for both Thursday and Friday nights.

  • Friday, May 19 -The ride begins on Friday morning after a breakfast buffet, orientation and photos. You will have a choice of starting points:

    The Inn at Snowshoe - which will include a three-mile steep uphill climb along RT 66.

    The top of the mountain - enjoy a shuttle ride to the top of the mountain for a comfortable downhill ride along RT 66.

    Cass - a shuttle ride to the head of the trail.

    No matter your starting point you will be totally be taken care of, with sag, medical and mechanical support.

    At Cass, you will hop on the Greenbrier River Trail for enjoyable and peaceful ride along the Greenbrier River with remarkable scenic views, including a ride through the 511 foot Sharp's tunnel. After the 34 mile ride and a picnic lunch, we will finish the day in Marlinton. After storing bikes in Marlinton, you will be bused back to the Inn at Snowshoe where you will enjoy dinner and an evening full of storytelling, laughter and other activities, or if you chose, a relaxing evening in your room.

  • Saturday, May 20 - After a breakfast buffet, all trekkers depart for a 44 mile ride on the Trail. Your adventure will take you through the second of the two tunnels, the 402 foot Droop Mountain Tunnel. Afterward you will enjoy a relaxing lunch along the Greenbrier River. The day ends back at Greenbrier Youth Camp. Evening activities consist of a delicious home cooked dinner, awards ceremony, and a camp fire with plenty of storytelling.

  • Sunday, May 21 -We will complete the last 22 miles by riding to Caldwell and back before noon, allowing plenty of time to make your trip home.

    FOOD/LODGING

    All overnight lodging and meals are provided on your adventure.

    Along the trail at 8-10 mile intervals, ALAWV staff and volunteers will provide break sites with drinks and snacks.

    A sag wagon service for weary riders is available to "leap frog" trekkers and their bikes.

    SHUTTLES
    Transportation includes gear shuttle, sag service, and rest stops every eight to ten miles.

    ON-SITE AIDE
    Medical personnel and bike mechanics will accompany the Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek.

Directions to Check-in

To the Greenbrier Youth Camp at Anthony:

Take I-64 to Beckley, WV. Take the US-219 exit, exit 169, toward Lewisburg/Ronceverte. Turn left on US-219. Go approximately 9 miles to Frankford where you will find the CR21 cutoff. Turn right onto Anthony Road/CR 21. Continue to follow CR 21 (approximately 5 miles). Follow the signs to Greenbrier Youth Camp.
