Lost Creek Road Race

The Mountain State Road Series (MSRS) got underway Saturday, April 18, with the Lost Creek Road Race, the first stage in the weekend's Lost Creek Stage Race. The race was run under nice conditions with mild temperatures and around two dozen racers. The course consisted of two 20 mile loops for the Category 1 through 4 racers with the Category 5 and Citizen riders completing a single circuit.

The race ran smoothly through the first 35 miles with the main pack mostly staying together. On the climb up through West Milford with about 5 miles remaining Greg Cook (GoMart WV), Jeff Timinski (Saturn Pittsburgh), and Clint Pinckert (Pedals and Spokes) made a break. Soon Greg and Jeff's pace was too much for Clint and the final miles saw Greg and Jeff setting themselves up for a sprint finish. In the end Jeff's charge with the finish in sight could not be matched and the Saturn rider crossed the line first in 1:52:28 with Greg finishing a close second. Clint finished alone in third with a group of 5 riders sprinting to the finish with Chris Hunnisett edging the group out for a fourth place finish. The Cat 5 and Citizen group was lead to the finish by Danny Neal (Vandalia Velos).
