The bright, blue sky above painted a picture perfect start for the Cooper's Rock Challenge
There may have still been some snow on the ground at Cooper's Rock, but Mother Nature was cooperating on Sunday by giving everyone at the race a beautiful day to run the Cooper's Rock Challenge 10K. It seemed as if Spring was in full effect as an impressive 184 people showed up ready to brave the hilly, 6 mile course. Sporting a yellow WVU track shirt, Steve Bohon managed to leave everyone behind as he took first place as the Overall 10K winner with a time of 31:58. In second place was John Reynolds with a time of 34:11, and in third was Eric Chandler with a time of 34:55.

Kathy Lencio finishes strong as the Women's overall 10K winner
Kathy Lencio also left her competition behind when she took first place as the Women's Overall winner with a time of 40:03. Running away with second and third place was Ryan Metheny with a time of 44:09, and a slightly younger Chelsea Metheny crossed the finish line in 45:54. There were lots of smiles, lots of runners, and lots of encouraging people, which made this run a joy to participate in for everyone. Congratulations to all the runners who came to the Cooper's Rock Challenge and conquered the course!

People of all ages were welcome to participate in the 10K run
& the 5K walk
Let us not forget the people who came out to walk the mostly up-hill 5K Race! Steve Bence was speed walking his way to be the overall winner of the 5K Walk with a time of 29:15. In second was Ken James with a time of 30:17, and in third place was Ken Ashton with a time of 37 minutes even. The Women's Overall 5K Walk winners were Donna Patrina with a time of 38:18, Peggy Thomas with a time of 39:27, and Clara King with a time of 40:11. Special thanks goes out to John D. May, who is always a joy to work with! He also made sure that WVOutside had the Race & Walk results pronto. Thanks John!
