Glen Baldwin wins the Easter Lily 5K
|
The streets of Fayetteville were alive on Saturday morning, April 3rd,
with runners of all ages. The 5K course started beside the courthouse
and wound around Fayetteville, mixing in some challenging uphills, and
ending with a gracious downhill finish. A total of 61 participants
were there and they all seemed to be smiling; there's no doubt the
sunshine and warm weather had everyone feeling good. From the very
beginning Glen Baldwin(17:23)was out in front, and he never looked
back. Don't think that there wasn't plenty of action right on his
heels though, because Tim Howard(17:55) and Aaron Kaylor(19:01) were
battling hard to the two mile mark, with a steady stream of racers
right behind, but the veteran Howard was strong and slowly pulled away.

Wouldn't you like to have one of these?

It was Rebecca Falbo-Schooner(20:51) keeping a blistering pace to
capture the womens win, and to finish a very impressive 9th
overall. Right behind her, and finishing 2nd in the womens was Robin
Tarpinian(21:41), and Kristina Reickover(22:46) was right there with a
strong third place finish. After the race, there was plenty of drinks
and fruit while everyone enjoyed the sunshine on the lawn of the
Fayetteville courthouse. The trophies were handed out to the top three
finishers in each category, and these were no ordinary trophies. These
beauties were handmade by race organizer Larry Taylor and his father,
and everyone that received one could be seen walking away admiring
their newly won prize. If you missed it this year, make sure to check
it out next year, we will be there, and we will be looking for you!
