Down south in Bluefield, Buzz Johnson is pretty exited about the 1999 Bluefield Backwoods Bash, a cross country and downhill mountain bike extravaganza the weekend of May 1-2. The festivities kick of Saturday with the challenging AXO downhill race over a totally redesigned course. Race organizers are already putting up padding on conspicuous obstacles and gathering hay bales. Buzz promises that this course will rival most any he has seen lately. The race will have Sport and Expert classes and will be scored on the fastest of two runs. There's no shuttle, so no wimps!

If you aren't into the DH scene, come early for the entertainment value (i.e. - bloodlust) and to participate in a night rally (2 laps) over the XC course. The participants can compete in expert, sport and beginner classes as well as the DIM class (no lights).

Practice runs from 10am-2:30pm.
Race STARTS at 3pm. $18.00 to ALL racers

Saturday, May 1st (at night), is the
"Stoopid Fun Night Rally!"

Expert, Sport, and Beginner classes with the super bold DIM class, no lights!
A fun 2 laps on the track. Ladies race for...FREE Guys...$8.00

Live music during, and afterward.
