Mt. Tabor
The start at Mt. Tabor
On a beautiful, sunny evening just outside Beckley, the Saddlebred Golf Course was alive with runners and walkers. They weren't carrying any golf clubs, and they definitely weren't riding golf carts around, they were participating in the 3rd Annual Mt. Tabor Christian School YMCA 5K.

The running course stayed on the paved golf cart track, except for the start which took runners from the tee of a long par 5 down the fairway for about 400 yards. After this, racers stayed on the golf cart path, which had plenty of rolling hills to keep the blood flowing. The late evening scenery, with lush, green meadows and peaceful ponds filled with geese provided a perfect setting.

Everyone say "cheese"
Taking a break from his cross country season, James Kneeland was the first to cross the finish line, taking the overall win in the men's run. The always fast Charle Moore was close behind Kneeland, finishing second overall, and Larry Taylor was fleet enough to finish third overall, and first in his age group.

Jenny Boyd took first place overall honors for the women's run. For the walkers, it was Betty Burgess getting the win for the women, and Robert Crawford winning the men's division.

Thanks to Mt.Tabor Christian School and Jay Rutledge for putting on a great race, and providing a fun time for everyone involved.
