Pretty
A pretty fine day to get outside
The streets of Dunbar came alive Saturday September 18 with the 25th Annual Wine Cellar Classic 10K Road Race. After a great spaghetti dinner for all participants and their families on Friday night, runners and walkers from around the state were ready for a morning of racing. With the crisp sunny morning it was surely a great day for running.

Participants of all ages, including members of the Tallman Track Club located in Charleston, started the race at The Dunbar Wine Cellar Park, dashing over rolling hills and winding their way through the flats of downtown Dunbar with a finish in front of City Hall.

Conquering a first place male overall finish with a nice lead was Jared Smith (35:06). Jared even with being ill all last week said he finished with his personal best time in a 10K. Marlene Moore (46:24), a past winner, crossed the finish line for a first place female overall finish.

Also a special treat to the race was life long runner Larry Hilliard. Larry, just over a year ago, was struck by a truck while running and spent several days in a coma. But with his courage and determination he made a great recovery. Larry said, "it was not easy but with god's help and my love of running I am back to normal." So welcome back Larry and best wishes!

Thanks for a job well done by the volunteers of the day, Race Director Cheryl Gayner, and the Boy Scout Troop 283 for providing traffic control.
