Running Family
Out to spend some quality time with the kids
The dreary overcast skies and cooler temperatures did not dampen the spirits or the festivities in Ceredo West Virginia, Saturday, for the 12th Annual Rocco's Ristorante Five Mile Road Race. This five mile race is a flat course with one moderate hill which begins in front of Rocco's Ristorante and loops through the streets, crossing onto a country road and back to the finish in front of Rocco's where the wonderful smells of Italian food, the sounds of music and the cheering of the crowd greeted over a hundred runners.

Each year this exciting race directed by Rocco, owner of Rocco's Ristorante, supports not only the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Department but also chooses a local charity to support. This year they have chosen to support the Big Brothers - Big Sisters program which pairs up volunteers with an at risk child to spend some quality time with the child. A lot of the children in the program are from single parent households where the parent and the child could use just a little extra help and time.

Scott Clark & John Frazier battle for the lead
The overall Male winner today was John Frazier (29:14) of Charleston. After a ten year break from running and competing John came back with a vengeance to capture his first win not only of the season but also in ten years. John stated that as he turned the corner for the final stretch (or what he hoped to be the final stretch) and saw the crowd in the distance he thought, "I can do this". And he did. Congratulations Frazier!

The overall Female winner was Kelli McGraw also of Charleston. Kelli said she loves to run at Rocco's, the course is great and the event is a well-organized fun morning. This season Kelli is steadily improving on each of her previous year's race times. Last years time was 32:03, which she shortened this year by almost a minute with a time of 31:23. Great Job Kelli.

Thumbs Up
That's a unanimous thumbs-up for Rocco's
The second place male and female winners were Jeff Morris with a time of 29:17 and Laura Jarrell with a time of 36:41. Also placing in the overall winners were Scott Clark with a time of 29:22 and Kathleen Krueger with at time of 38:34 for a third place finish. Cheers to you all!

Also out enjoying today's run were members of the Ceredo National Guard from the 2nd and 19th Special forces Unit. Sgt. Stump said they were out to enjoy a day of physical fitness and support of Rocco's. Hat's off to all that ran!

Rocco sure knows how to throw a great race! Not only did he have a well-organized race but he also had great music, friendly helpers and plenty of good Italian food. So until next years race, conservazione sul funzionare (keep on running).
