River City Mile
Full speed ahead!
On a cool morning, one that felt more like October than July, fifty runners from around the region gathered in Parkersburg's City Park to determine who would be the fastest man and woman in the River City Mile.

In the men's race, Fayetteville's Larry Taylor(4:35) set a new course record enroute to his win. Taylor battled stride-for-stride with previous record holder Tony Basta(4:42) for the first 1/2 mile before surging ahead and holding off the former champion down the stretch for the victory.

Basta finished second overall while edging out ex- Parkersburg South runner Jimmy Galloway( 4:42) by 66 hundredths of a second! Rounding out the top 5 was Mike Taylor(4:58) and Forrest Boggess(5:07).
