A few of the winners
What do you get when you combine the Parkersburg Homecoming, generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers and a ton of energetic kids? The Shoney Bear Trot and GraphicComm Junior Races!

The track at Stadium Field and gorgeous weather provided an opportunity for many youngsters to gain experience in running.

The Shoney Bear Trot was great fun for participants and spectators alike. Those who were new at the sport, could have a parent run with them for encouragement. As the age of the children increased, so did the level of competition. The 6 and 7 year old boys race was a photo finish!

All the young Racers had to run distances ranging from a hundred meters up to eight hundred meters, depending on age.

All participants received a ribbon and a tee-shirt with the first and second place winners in each category receiving a gift certificate from Grand Central Mall.

Race coordinator Lisa Coplin and her volunteers, did an excellent job of organizing the races. The River City Runners handled starts, finishes and kept the action moving. Most of all there was a huge emphasis on sportsmanship and safety and the enthusiasm was kept high until all the runners crossed the finish line - usually with members of the club running along side for encouragement.
