John Urban taking care of business
With temperatures hovering around 20 degrees farenheit, racers gathered in Latrobe to traverse the city streets in a pre Thanksgiving meal run. While mere mortals faced heading outside with trepidation, over 230 runners and 140 walkers bundled up and headed out for a little morning excercise.

Old timers may have been reminising about their days on the old cinder tracks as the streets over which the course ran had a fresh layer of salt left over from efforts to combat a recent snowfall. The cold temperatures didn't seem to affect John Urban (member of the Rolling Rock Racing Team - winners of the 2000 Rolling Rock 5 Miler) who came across the line with a time of 16:20 followed closely by John Fox (16:25).

Go Indiana U!
Crossing the line in third place overall was Tim Miller with a time of 17:07.

Mindy Sawtelle of Indiana, Pa. put the pressure on the boys and in the process took first place in the womens open (17:16) and fourth place overall. Finishing seventh overall and second in the womens open class was hometown girl Gina McGee (18:05) followed by Kelly Null (19:36). In one of the closer races of the day, Jodee Thomas (24:24) of Latrobe held off Derry's Beth Lininger (24:26) to take first in the Women's 25-29 age group.
