Since 1991, this race has been a stand out event in the series.
Maybe it's because it's held in December which poses an "extra"
challenge to racers as it did this year with temps close to freezing.
Or maybe it's got something to with the incredible post-race spread
provided by Back Bay Seafood House, with everything from
holiday treats to tasty hot meats. Whatever it is that folks seem to
fancy about this event, it's the perfect ending to another wonderful MAGP
race season.

An outstanding runner who's been seen in many MAGP races for 2000, and last year's 3rd place winner Kevin Williams kept a large edge over his competition to take 1st with a time of 16:06. The "Doc" Murshid Latif(17:04), finished strong in the 2nd place spot.
Rounding the 2nd to last corner of the course together, Stephen
Hiser & Heather Bury were neck and neck. So close to the
finish, Hiser kicked up his heels to take a 7 second lead over Bury to
round out the top spots with a time of 17:13. Bury(17:20), finished a
cool 4th overall, and 1st for the women. Kavara Vaughn(19:50),
captured 2nd for the ladies while Maria Stover(20:09), sprinted in for
3rd.

The MAGP Champs
After 15 races where 149 competitors have been running for points, the male and female champions have been announced. This year Ed Frohnapfel after running in 7 of the series races, clenched the crown with 828 points.
The womens champ is none other than Heather Bury. Taking 1st place for the women, and many top 5 finishes in the 8 series races which she competed in, Bury claims the most points for the ladies in the series with 698.
Don't forget that coming up on Wednesday, December 13th at 7:00 PM, at Whitetail Cycle & Fitness it's the 2000 Morgantown Area Grand Prix Awards Ceremony. Everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun!
Special Thanks: Goes to the fine crew of SERJ Racing Services, the Morgantown Roadrunners/WV Track Club (MRR/WV), and the series sponsors Whitetail Cycle & Fitness and Recourse Inc. Also, thanks to the many volunteers who made this series a success!
