Classes, Costs, Awards:

  • Cost for either race is $20, or $25 after May 1st, 2001
  • Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female winners of each race
  • All runners will receive a T-shirt in their race packets (sizes are given on a first come first serve basis)
  • All marathon finishers will receive a medal and a certificate
  • 10 mile awards will be given to male and female overall winners
  • Male and female age groups for the marathon: 17-Under, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-Over

Course Records: Male - 2:50:15; Female: 3:36:44

Course Description: All courses begin and end in the park. The altitude of the area ranges from 500' to 1300' above sea level. The marathon is a figure 8 course that goes through the town of Harrisville twice and back to North Bend. It is mostly paved and very scenic. It presents the runner with mild to challenging grades. The 10 mile course is 50% paved and 50% gravel/dirt surface. It offers scenery of country roads and several challenging ascents.

Services: Stations offering water and All Sport brand sports drink will be in place approximately every two miles throughout the marathon and 10 mile courses. Water, All Sport and citus fruit will be available at the finish of all races. Showers will be available to all runners. Van service is available from the finish line area to the lodge. Police and paramedics will be on stand-by.

Festivities: This year's races coincide with the North Bend Rail Trail Festival. There are a number of activities occurring throughout the weekend. On Saturday, 6/2/01, activities that are on or near the park include a mountain bike ride, a sounds of the trail contest and a luminary walk. There is a dinner with musical entertainment at 6:00pm in Shelter #3. All Ridge Runner participants are invited to attend free of charge. A covered dish is optional.
