I may be little, but I know how to take big strides!
Founded in 1993, the September Stride benefits the Richard Rosenbaum Cystic Fibrosis Fund. Amenities include a pasta dinner and running seminar on the eve of the race, cash awards for overall winners and handcrafted age group awards.

The event is has been a part of the Morgantown Area Grand Prix Series (MAGP) since many locals can recall and for the past 8 years, iPlayOutside has been there with camera in tow. Attracting over 220 racers, it's spirited course takes runners and walkers past the West Virginia University Mountaineers stadium. Race directors are always careful not to plan the event during a home game.

This year's overall 5K run winner is a bit of a local celebrity in the running world. Josh Simpson, 21, of Weston. West Virginia finished 4th overall in this year's Greater Clarksburg 10K (1st in the Men's 20-24 class) behind professional circut runner Silah Misoi of Kenya. Simpson claimed 1st easily with a time of 15:56.

Lots of participants on this day
Travis Simpson and Erik Bennett kept it stride for stride for a while. But it was Travis Simpson of Weirton, WV who claimed 2nd overall on this day with a time of 16:27. Travis also finished 3rd in the Clarksburg 10K in the Men's 20-24 class. Erik Bennett, finished a close 3rd in 16:28.

The first overall woman finisher was Jennifer Kemp with a time of 19:24. Amanda Le Blanc (20:11), finished 2nd and Kathy Timperman (20:28) crossed in 3rd.

This was the 12th race in the 2005 MAGP Series with only three more to go. Saturday, October 8 in Clarksburg there's the FBIRA Jerry Dove Memorial 5K. On Sunday October 23, it's the Red Ribbon 5K in Morgantown, and on Sunday, December the Back Bay Snowflake Sprint 5K gets underway, also in Morgantown. We hope to see you at the rest of these wonderful events.
