The Kids Run kicks it off
Unlike last years warm December weather, this year's Back Bay Snowflake Sprint 5K was blistering cold, and wet. Despite the winter wonderland over 180 racers and walkers showed up to race the last Morgantown Area Grand Prix Series (MAGP) event.

The Flurry Fun Kids Run began the days festivities and all finishers received an award and a treat from Santa. With the sound of a siren signaling the start of the race and some help from the guy in the red suit, all the freezing fingers and toes headed out on the course to begin the 5K run and walk. The race started on Patterson Drive, looped around the neighborhood and came right back to finish behind Kreeps Park.

Lots of racers brave the cold
Coming in first for the males was Ryan Skotnicki, from Morgantown, West Virginia, with an impressive time of 16:20. Ryan was the reigning champ of last year's race.

Following Ryan by 4 seconds was Danny Fink, who traveled from Swoope, Virginia; his finishing time was 16:24. Not to be out-done with a time of 16:33 was the third racer to cross the line, Brandon Miles from Grafton, West Virginia.

As for the ladies, the first to cross the finish line was Heather Bury-Parks from Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, with a time of 18:09. Behind Heather was Alex Emch from Morgantown, with a time of 20:48. Following Alex with a time of 20:53, was Jennifer Vandesloot from Morgantown West Virginia.

Ryan Skotnicki, 1st overall again
After all the participants had crossed the finish line food was served! People crowded into the pavilion warm by a roaring fire, awaiting the results of the race. Feet thawed right out as they enjoyed a fabulous spread fit for a king provided by Back Bay Seafood Restaurant.

Friends and family members of the racers were invited to attend the post-race meal for small donation with proceeds going to the SteppingStones of Morgantown. Thanks to all who attended, and stay tuned for the final MAGP Series results!
