One of the most popular races on the east coast!
The 13th Annual Wild 100 will be held August 16th, 2008. Registration is $140.00: includes camping Friday and Saturday nights, Slatyfork Trail guide, food at checkpoints 3, 4, and 5 and a survivors BBQ Saturday night. This race is not for beginners or intermediates with weak knees. The extreme length and terrain of the Wild 100 will surely break many. Finishers will be very proud of their accomplishment.

A True Back Country Race . . .
An all day mountain biking marathon whose length is determined by your own route choices. Check in at six different checkpoints, then finish at Elk River approximately 100K (62 miles) later. Ride the trails and terrain that has put Slatyfork on the map as the eastern mecca of serious mountain biking. This will be a true test of endurance and riding skill. Bring your lighting systems, tools, family and friends for a true back-country experience. Race registration includes a camping weekend.

The Course: The course is up to you and what you think is the best way. Start at Elk River at 7am and check in at six different check points in sequence, always deciding for yourself which trail, dirt road, or paved road is the most efficient for your skill, fitness, and mental state, then finish at the Elk River Touring Center. The entire course should total approximately 100 k (62 miles) and have a cumulative elevation gain of nearly 8,000 ft.

Trails such as Tea Creek Mtn., Bear Pen, Red Run, will lead you to Sharps Knob, Gay Knob, and deep into the Tea Creek Canyon. These are the trails and terrain that have put Slatyfork on the map as the eastern mecca of serious mountain biking. Depending on weather conditions the race could very possibly last deep into the night. So bring your lighting systems, food, tools, and most importantly your courage and perseverance. This will be the true test of endurance and eastern trail riding skill.
