Race Course Description / Distances
This very scenic race is entirely within the Monongahela National Forest. It's located along the Highland Scenic Highway.

BIKE . . . 17.1 miles
from Summit Lake to Cranberry Mountain Nature Center on State Rt. 39/55, along a clear trout stream and over 3988 ft., 9% grade Kennison Mountain on a national scenic by-way (hard paved surface)
RUN . . . 6.2 miles total
3.1 miles out to Cranberry Glades and 3.1 miles back to Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. (rolling, mixed surface terrain of pavement and compacted gravel)
What You Get
Free T-Shirts for all racers! Day-of-race registered racers get shirts while supplies last. Pre-Race Pasta on Saturday, July 10, 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall (next to Foodland) in historic Richwood. This is free for competitors; guests $6.00; children 5 and under eat free. It's open to the public
Cookout will follow the Race close to the finish-line outside of Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. It's free for all paid competitors.

There are usually between 100 to 200 athletes total. Divisions are broken down by sexes and 5-year age intervals. Prizes and trophies for top three places in all age categories. This is a well organized race. Family friendly event.
If you are arriving early and wish to bike or run through the course, you may do so. However, no Swimming is allowed in Summit Lake. Swimming is permitted on Sunday, for this special event only.
Flotation Devices may be used in the swim portion of the race. Helmets are Required for the bike portion of the race.
Shuttle service will be provided back to Summit Lake for participants who need it. Refreshment provided at Cranberry Nature Center for race participants.
Parking lot and restrooms available at Summit Lake and Cranberry Nature Center.

Start . . . Summit Lake is approximately 8 miles East of Richwood, WV 26261 on Route 39/55. [ Google Map to Richwood ]
Finish . . . The Cranberry Mountain Nature Center (phone: 304-653-4826) is located 23 miles east of Richwood, WV and 14 miles west of Marlinton, WV at the junction of WV Rts. 39/55 and Rt. 150, Highland Scenic Highway.
Lodging and Camping . . . Commercial lodging and camping facilities are available in Richwood and in the surrounding area. Camping sites are also available in the National Forest and its Recreation Areas. For more see www.richwoodwv.com/lodging.asp.
