Where: Virginia Creeper Trail in Abingdon, Virginia

Entry Fee: $8.00 by 2/24/01; $15.00 thereafter and race day

Limited Number: Due to the nature of the course, the race field must be limited to 100 runners!

Please Note: This is a low-key, low-frills event. Amenities are minimal. Race mementos will be given to pre-registered participants (entries postmarked by 2/24/01), and to late or race-day registrants only as the supply lasts.

Awards & Age Groups: Will be presented to the overall male and female winners. Trophies will be awarded to the top finisher in the following age groups, male and female: 29-under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+. Certificate and results will be mailed to all finishers.

Course: Race starts and finishes at the junction of the Virginia Creeper Trail and Watauga Road (St. Rt. 677). This USATF certified course (VA98035RT) is pleasantly scenic. Following an out-and-back first two miles on gently rolling Watauga Road, the rest of the race is run on the Virginia Creeper Trail, a former railroad bed. One of the two out-and-back segments on the Trail is repeated, as is a short portion of the other segment. Runners pass the start/finish area at 2, 9, 18 and 25 miles. The Trail is flat to gentle grade, with (except for the occasional wooden trestle) a soft running surface.

Extras: Aid stations (water/sports drink) every 2 - 2 1/2 miles, with refreshments and homemade goodies at the finish.
