10th Annual Uniontown Triathlon

The 10th Annual Uniontown Triathlon has been unchanged since it's inception, is fun, challenging and well volunteered. A dash of a swim. A bike course of railroad tracks and hills, ending with a great run through town which finishes at the fifty yard line of the school stadium.

When: Saturday, June 30th at 6:30 AM

Where: Uniontown High School, located at the junction of Fayette and Wilson Streets in Uniontown, PA.

Start Times: Individual heats begin at 6:30 AM; Relay heats begin around 8:30 AM.

Note: Registration Deadline is Tuesday, June 26, 2001!

Triathlon Distances:

  • Swim - 200 yards (8 lengths) in High School Swimming Pool
  • Bike - 10.3 mile route from High School & back (helmet required)
  • Run - 4.25 miles through Uniontown ending at the High School Stadium

Awards: Will be given to the male and female winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd), to the male and female winners (1st, 2nd ,3rd) in each age category, and to the 1st place team in each relay

What You'll Get:
All participants will receive a long-sleeve "T" shirt, fruit and drink at the finish line. Late registrations will not be guaranteed a shirt. Also, a free spaghetti dinner will be served on Friday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the United Asbury Methodist Church for those registered for the race.


Directions To The Race Site
(To get to Asbury Church for the dinner, follow these directions but turn right at the CITGO Station off of Business Rt. 40 in Uniontown)

From the PA Turnpike: From New Stanton go south on Rt. 119, go through Connellsville, and take the exit "Pittsburgh St., Rt. 51" South toward Uniontown. In Uniontown, turn left on Business Rt. 40 East ( marked by the Sunocco Station). Continue about a half a mile to the high school.

From Morgantown: Go north on Rt. 119 (or Rt. 857 to Rt. 43 to Rt. 119). As you approach Uniontown, take the "Main Street" exit and turn right onto Business Rt. 40 East. Continue about a mile to the high school.

From Pittsburgh: Go south across the Liberty Bridge, through the Liberty Tunnel, and turn left onto Rt. 51 South. Continue on Rt. 51 (one hour) into downtown Uniontown. Turn left onto Business Rt 51. Continue for a mile to the high school.

From the West: Take Rt. 40 East past the Uniontown Mall and into Uniontown. The high school is on the right.

From the East: Take Rt. 40 West. After passing the Summit Hotel at the top of the Chestnut Ridge Mountain, go to the bottom of the mountain where you will join the new Rt.19 "bypass" of Uniontown. Take the Rt. 40 exit off the bypass and turn right onto Business Rt. 40 East. Continue over a mile to the high school.
