Last year's swim in the lake
The Scenic Mountain Triathlon is rumored the longest running triathlon
in the state. Entrants can be individuals or teams of three. The
event takes place in the beautiful Monongahela National Forest in
Richwood. One hundred plus volunteers makes a world of difference in
this triathlon! Lots of local support, a cookout, and great prizes
make this a race you won't want to miss!
When: Sunday, July 8th at 10:00 AM
Where: Summit Lake in Richwood, WV

Race Course Description:
- SWIM - 0.5 miles in Summit Lake
- BIKE - 17.1 miles from Summit Lake to Cranberry Mountain
Nature Center on State Rt. 39/55 (Hard surface road with hills)
- RUN - 6.2 miles total. 3.1 miles to locked gate below
Cranberry Glades and 3.1 miles back to Cranberry Mt. Nature Center
Race Registration:
Saturday, July 7th - 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 1st United
Methodist Church, Oakford Ave, Richwood
Sunday, July 8th - 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Summit Lake
Orientation is at 9:30 AM and EVERYONE MUST ATTEND!
Additional Comments:
- If you are arriving on Saturday, July 7, and wish to bike or run
throught the course, you may do so.
- However, NO SWIMMING is allowed in Summit Lake. Swimming is
permitted on Sunday July 9, for this special event only.
- Flotation Devices may be used in the swim portion of the race.
- Helmets are REQUIRED for the bike portion of the race.
- Shuffle service will be provided back to Summit Lake for participants who need it.
- Refreshment provided at Cranberry Nature Center for race participants.
- Parking lot and restrooms available at Summit Lake and Cranberry Nature Center.
