Race Start
You'd think it would be a 33K...
What a great night to have an evening race!. It finally cooled down, but the sun was still shining for the race. The race is the 12th Annual Rock-n-Run 5 Miler in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and as usual, was enjoyed by both the crowd and runners.

Other than the race, another thing that comes to mind when Latrobe is mentioned... Latrobe Brewery, the makers of Rolling Rock and sponsors of the event. The runners race by the Latrobe Brewery, what a great idea. I wonder if any runners made a pit stop there? That idea would cross my mind if I were running!

The Rock-n-Run 5 Miler started and finished at the Latrobe Memorial Stadium with over 700 runners in line at the start. After the race completes its long loop, the trip to the finish was on the track in front of the field's grandstands. It was easy for the friends and family to sit and enjoy the runners finish the race. This was the first race I have seen that had vans full of runners coming from out of town to enjoy the race and a great evening. Definitely an enthusiastic group of people supporting a great race!

Race Winner
Tim Menoher races toward a win
As for the men finishers, Tim Menoher from Erlanger, Kentucky grabbed the overall prize with a time of 25:06. He drove a long time for some Rolling Rock refreshment. Coming in second, just over half a minute behind, was Daniel Princic from Carrollton, Ohio with a time of 25:39. Third place overall was a hometown runner, Andrew Herr, with a time of 26:04.

About another minute behind Andrew was the fourth place finisher, Timothy Black, of Greensburg with a time of 27:01. Rounding out the top five finishers is another hometown runner in John Urban, with a time of 27:19. Great job guys!

The top female finisher was Colleen Harrison from Kent, Ohio with a time of 29:41. The second place finisher was Lisa Veneziano of West Chester, Ohio with a time of 30:07. And it was hometown runner again for third with Gina McGee and a time of 31:00.

Race Winner
Colleen Harrison takes the women's title
Followed closely behind Gina was Beth Shutt from Allison Park with a time of 31:16. And rounding out the top five finishers for the women was Pittsburgh’s Larissa Bifano with a time of 32:52. Great racing ladies!!

After the race, the runners enjoyed some refreshments and fruit to replenish their energy for the upcoming night. Great random prizes were given out before and then it was on to the awards.

Special thanks to Annette Couch of the Latrobe Brewery, Butchko Finish Line Services, and Mountain View Inn (for the great party afterwards), and all the volunteers who helped make this a great race and a great night!!!
