WV Troops to Teachers 5K Run/Walk

The 5K run/walk is designed to increase awareness of and show support for veterans and their benefits. Troops to Teachers provides veterans with a unique opportunity to bring their skills and experience into America's classrooms to make a positive impact on the students who need them the most.

Race Day Registration
Available from 7:00am-7:55am (Remember, individuals that fail to register before the race begins at 8:00am will not be permitted to participate in the event)
Race Features
- The track will run along one side of Coonskin Park's main roads. Participants will run to a point behind the golf course, turn around, and return to the starting line for their finish.
- There will be competitive running participants, walking participants, and a unique motivational military formation run for individuals that would like to run as a group in a non-competitive fashion.
- Teams should have at least three runners. Team members register individually, noting the team name on the registration form.
- The top three runners will have their scores averaged to create an official team score.
- All participants will receive a race number and a set of Troops to Teachers dogtags.
- Sections of the course terrain are not suitable for skateboards, roller skates, wheel chairs, etc.
- Water stations will be strategically placed along the course.
- Bring your own towels and come dressed for the race.
Award Ceremony
The award ceremony will take place at 10:00am in the National Guard Annex Building at Coonskin Park.
