The Purpose: All proceeds benefit Literacy Volunteers America
of Marion County (a United Way Agency), which provides free tutoring
in reading, math, and English as a second language, as well as related
services.

Runners Clinic: Friday, June 22, 2001
Veteran Runner and author Chuck Cornelius from 7 to 9 PM along
with local cross country coaches. The clinic takes place at the school formerly fifth Ward/White School.
Location: Marion County Adult Education Center
(Formerly Fifth Ward/ White School)

20K combo Team Competions
- Top 3 male & first female (based on combined times from 15K & 5K)
- Teen Teams: in 5K race only. First place in 3
categories-male, female & mixed, 3 runners per team; at least 1 male &
1 female on mixed team. Based on overall finishes; low score
wins. Teen team members must be born on or after 6-24-81 & on or
before 6-23-88. Entries must be sent together & received by Friday
6-22-01.
Parent-Child Teams: Awards to top 3 teams.
Entries must be sent together & received by Friday, 6-22-01. Based
upon overall finishes. Low score wins. Literacy awards: Race-walk
only; one for top male literacy participant & one for top female
literacy participant. Must be tutor, student, board member or staff
person of an LVA affiliate or other recognized literacy organization.
Packet Pick-Up & Late Registration: Friday, June 22nd, place TBA
Directions
From I-79 North: Exit #137. Bear right on the exit
ramp. Merge left on Rt. 310 North. Follow 310 about 2
miles until it ends. Turn left on US 250 South. Go 1
block. Turn right at the traffic light (4th St). Go
about 4 blocks. Turn left at the next light (Locust
Ave.) Go 1 block.
From I-79 South: Exit #132. Bear left on exit
ramp. Travel US 250 North about 4 miles. At the 7th
traffic light turn left by the Go Mart (7th St.) Go
about 5 blocks. Turn right at the next light (Locust
Ave.) Go about 2 blocks.
From Wetzel County: Travel US 250 South to Fairmont. Turn
right at the first traffic light on US 19 South (Locust
Ave.) Travel about 4 blocks. Straight at the next
light (intersection of Locust & 4th St.). Go 1 more
block.
Parking We've arranged parking for over 100 cars with 2 businesses.
Laughlin & Wade Optometrists: Corner of Locust Ave & 4th
St. by the traffic light.
LabCorp: 3 lots. 1)Corner of Locust & Emerson St. on
Field St. 2) Gravel lot behind their building on Field
St. (near the registration area) 3) Paved lot on Field
St. near CV News. Lab Corp has a limited work force out
on Saturday. They ask that we do not use either the
parking lot close to the office on Locust Ave. or the
parking lot immediately in front of the office on Field
St. We plan to have volunteers and/or police reserves
out 2 hours before the race to direct parking.
