Who was Auggie?

Auggie was a beautiful black cat who was my faithful companion for seven years. His early departure from this world inspired me to establish this race in 1999 as a fundraiser for the Ohio County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and to remember him.

When: Saturday, October 27th, 2001

They're Off!

Race Time: 9:00 AM

Location: Heritage Trail, Warwood Elementary School, Wheeling, WV

Course: A flat and fast course entirely on the Heritage Trail, beginning & ending at Warwood Elementary School.

Distance: 5K (Both run & walk)

Race Fee: $13.00 until 10/20/01 & $15.00 thereafter
Children 15 & under $10.00

Awards: Unique embroidered awards for the top 3 overall Males & Females in the run & walk. There will be other awards for each age division for the run and for the walk. (Sorry, there is no trophy division for pets.)

5K Run Age Groups: 14 & Under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55 -59, 60 & Older

5K Walk Age Groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Older

Shirts: Windshirts with a unique design with original artwork by Jack Hennen are guaranteed to people who pre-register!

Directions: From downtown Wheeling, take Route 2/River Road north to Warwood. Then go east at Viking Drive, formerly known as North 13th Street. (There is a Burger King at the intersection.) Follow Viking Drive to its terminus, a parking lot adjacent to the school and the Wheeling Water Plant.
