NOTE: The 15K is an MAGP series race, the 5K is not.

Our Mission
All proceeds of the Run to Read Races benefit Literacy Volunteers of Marion County (a United Way Agency). Literacy Volunteers exists to provide free tutoring to adults and children of Marion county. Subjects include reading, math, English as a second language, computer basics and GED preparation. Tutoring is provided in a friendly one-on-one, learner/tutor setting. We have tutoring sites in Mannington and Fairmont and offer day and evening sessions. LVM is accredited by ProLiteracy America.

The Location: Marion County Adult Education Center (the former Fifth Ward/White School) on 601 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, WV (near Fairmont State College). Just 15 minutes from I-79. Park at nearby businesses (Lab Corp and Laughlin & Wade Optometrists)

  • Course includes one water stop
  • Awards go to top 12 female and top 8 male (no age groups in the walk).

    Fun Run

  • One loop of 5K course
  • Trophies to all finishers

Directions to the Event:
    From I-79 North: Exit #137. Bear right on the exit ramp. Merge left on Rt. 310 North. Follow 310 about 2 miles until it ends. Turn left on US 250 South. Go 1 block. Turn right at the traffic light (4th St). Go about 4 blocks. Turn left at the next light (Locust Ave.) Go 1 block.

    From I-79 South: Exit #132. Bear left on exit ramp. Travel US 250 North about 4 miles. At the 7th traffic light turn left by the Go Mart (7th St.) Go about 5 blocks. Turn right at the next light (Locust Ave.) Go about 2 blocks.

    From Wetzel County: Travel US 250 South to Fairmont. Turn right at the first traffic light on US 19 South (Locust Ave.) Travel about 4 blocks. Straight at the next light (intersection of Locust & 4th St.). Go 1 more block.
