Sweating their way through the thick evening air were brothers Josh and Travis Simpson. The pair were alone at the front of the race with Josh beating out his older brother at the finish by just two seconds.
As some consolation, Travis can know that his brother's winning time of
26:09.75 wasn't quite as good as his winning time from last year,
26:08.99. Travis finished second this year with a time of 26:11.89.

Heather Parks set the women's mark with a finishing time of 30:00.37, but the conditions weren't good enough for her to improve on her women's course record time of 28:03.78 set in 2001.
Second to finish for the women was local high school standout Amber
Riley (31:53.04). Rounding out the top three was the masters age
runner Leslie Thomas (34:57.56).

No matter the race you participated in, nor the place you finished, everyone could enjoy a nice meal and cold drinks courtesy of the WV Brew Pub following the race. As part of the fun after the race there was a silent auction with quite a bit of nice sports memorabilia going to the highest bidder.
The auction and all the race proceeds went to support the West Virginia Friends of Track & Field (FOTAF). They thank you kindly for your support as they continue in their mission to reinstate the men's cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field programs at West Virginia University.
