This is not your typical one day mountain bike race. The Appalachian Classic has an entire weekend of fun packed into two days of events. XC race, Short Track Race, XC Time Trial, Bike Polo and of course the pond jump! Also live music saturday night by the WEEDHAWKS! With free camping all weekend you be crazy to miss any of it!

The 7.2 miles of the Appalachian Classic Course has something for every rider of every ability and level of fitness. The buildup to the start is one of excitement and anticipation. Come early and enjoy FREE primitive camping. Take a ride on the XC Trail or the many backroads in the county.

The start will be staggered in one minute intervals with the Expert Class being first off the line followed by the Sports class and then the Novice Class. A short uphill section to the Start/Finish line at the shelter will spread the racers out a little and then comes a very fast grassy downhill into the parking lot. Then a quarter mile flat jeep trail with a few rocks and ruts takes the racers into the first 1/4 mile section of the park trail. Sorry, some of the off camber roots had to be removed for this new 8' wide trail.

Saturday, June 14
• 9:00 a.m.: Calhoun Runners 5K Run and Walk
• 2 p.m.: XC Time Trial (Cash Prizes)
• 3 p.m.: Kids Bike Race
• 4 p.m.: Bike Polo (bring your team of four)
• 7 p.m.: Short Track Race (Classes: Mens Expert, Mens Sport, Womens Open)(Cash Prizes)
• 8 p.m.: Free Concert by the WeedHawks

Confirmed: The Band Saturday night will be the WeedHawks from Morgantown

Sunday, June 15
• 9 a.m.: Registration opens for XC MTB race
• 11:40 a.m.: Feature race meeting
• 12:00 Noon: WVMBA XC Points Race - Start of Appalachian Classic Race
• 3:30 p.m.: The POND Jump (after the race)
• 4 p.m.: Awards Ceremony. As usual there will be lots of great prizes!

XC Time Trial -Saturday. Get your legs warmed up on saturday morning with a race against the clock along our 3 mile TT course. $10 to enter.

Bike Polo - Saturday. Bring your team of four or if you don't have a team e-mail J.R. to be placed on one. Free to enter

Short Track Race - Saturday. Saturday night short track. 40 minute + 1 Lap for Mens Expert, 30 + 1 Lap Mens Sport and Womens open. $10 to enter with all classes paying cash prizes of $100.00 to the winner.

WVMBA XC Points Race - Sunday. 21 mile for Experts, 14 for Sport class riders and 7 mile beginner loop. Race fee is $30.00 for WVMBA member and $35.00 for non-members. Non WVMBA members must purchase a one day racing licens for $5.00.

The POND Jump - Sunday. After a long day on the trails cools off with a dip in the pond. Don't worry you don't have to use your own bike, one will be provided for you so off your style as you hit the ramp into the pond. Can't think of any better way to spent some time while race results are being prepared. Free to enter.

First 100 Registrants for Sunday's XC Race: Will receive T-shirts and a Appalachian Classic Pint glass.
