The gristmill in April

The Babcock Gristmill Grinder is a truly spectacular trail course through the rugged terrain of Babcock State Park. This event will challenge you with single track trails, occasional short road sections and it will reward you with spectacular overlooks, lush green moss and ferns, rhododendron tunnels, waterfalls and more.

Glade and Mann's Creek both flow through the park, and have carved deep canyons in the Sandstone as they plunge to the New River Gorge. he infamous Gristmill on Glade Creek is actually constructed from several old mills from West Virginia.

Half-Marathon Run

• Costs $20.00
• Starts at 10:00 am, runs around the scenic State Park trails
• Loop course consists of single track trail, some climbs, and scenic overlooks and waterfalls. Three aid stations (with water, sports drink, and radios).

To get to the Run/Walk Start:

Enter Babcock State Park at the Main Entrance. Go past the Gristmill, left and up the paved road. Continue past the lake & pool parking lot to the Sugar Camp Run Picnic Area. This will be the Start & Finish for the race. Packet pick up and race day registration will begin at 8:00am in the morning.

• Located in Fayette County in south central West Virginia, Babcock State Park is easily accessible from Beckley and points south by following US 19 north. At the US Rt. 60 exit travel east 10 miles to State Rt. 41 South. Babcock's campground is 2 miles south of Rt.60 at Clifftop, while the main park entrance is 2 miles south of Clifftop.

• From Charleston, WV follow Rt. 60 East to Rt. 41 South.

• From the east, follow I-64 to the Sam Black Church exit, then follow US Rt. 60 West to Rt. 41 South.

• From the north take US 19 exit off I-79 and follow US 19 to US Rt. 60 East to Rt. 41 South.
