Greenbrier Trail Bike Trek
To Benefit the American Lung Association
Celebrating 23 Years On The Trail
This event is an exciting 3-day,100-mile (an optional 2-day, 70-mile ride is available) rail to trail mountain bike adventure that combines unforgettable mountain scenery with the unique sights of Pocahontas and Greenbrier Counties and experiences of the robust Greenbrier River Trail that can only be encountered on foot or by bike.
- Beginners are welcome!
- Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Only 3 riders under the age of 18 - per adult partner.
This event is a go-at-your own pace ride for cyclist of all levels of experience. Trekkers will enjoy "A No Worries Ride" on the entire Greenbrier River Trail, for lodging, food, transportation, mechanics and medical crew are provided every pedal of the way.
The 3-day, 100 -mile ride will begin with registration on Thursday evening, May 13, at Snowshoe Mountain Resort or at the Greenbrier Valley Youth Camp in Anthony. Trekkers registering at the youth camp will be bused to Snowshoe Mountain Resort to enjoy an evening at the pool while meeting their fellow trekkers. Lodging is provided at the Inn at Snowshoe for Thursday night.

As a trek participant, your package includes . . .
A long-sleeve t-shirt, meals, lodging, gear transporation, shuttle service, sag and mechanic support and medical crew during the event and much more. All proceeds benefit the American Lung Association in West Virginia.
- Fundraise $600 and received great incentive gifts.
- Raise $1,000 or more an be a member of the elite Winner Circle.
- All overnight lodging and meals are provided on your adventure.
- Along the trail at 8-10 mile intervals, ALAWV staff and volunteers will provide break sites with water, Gatorade, fruit and snacks.
- A sag wagon service for weary riders is available to "leap frog" trekkers and their bikes.

Fundraising
Each trekker is required to raise a minumum of in sponsorship of the American Lung Association of WV. Amounts are below:
- $450 for the 3-day ride
- $400 for the 2-day ride
SCHEDULE for RIDE
Friday Morning, May 13
Friday morning join everyone for breakfast at the Inn. Late registration will continue during this time. After orientation and group/team photos, you will start the ride. You will begin your ride with a choice of starting points:
1) The Inn at Snowshoe - which will include a 3-mile steep uphill climb on Rt 66
2) The top of the mountain - enjoy a shuttle ride to the top of the mountain for a comfortable downhill ride along Rt. 66
3) Cass the Head of the Greenbrier River Trail - a shuttle ride to the head of the trail for a enjoyable 1/2 of 1% down grade ride
No matter your starting point you will be totally be taken care of, with sag, medical and mechanical support.
At Cass, you will hop on the Greenbrier River Trail for enjoyable and peaceful ride along the Greenbrier River with remarkable scenic views. Including a ride throught one of two tunnels on this adventure, this day you will travel throught the 511-foot Sharp's tunnel. After a 30-mile nature ride and a picnic lunch along the beautiful Greenbrier River, we will finish the day in Marlinton.
You will be bused to one of the three locations where you will enjoy dinner and an evening full of story telling, laughter and other activities, or if you chose a relaxing evening in your room.
The optional 2-day, 70-mile ride will begin at this point with registration at Marlinton Motor Inn on Friday evening. Come early to take part in dinner and all the activities.
Saturday, May 14
Saturday, after enjoying a breakfast buffet, all trekkers depart for a 45-mile ride on the Greenbrier River Trail for the entire day! Everyone agrees that if you pace yourself, it's really a fun day. Your adventure will take you throught the second of the two tunnels of this adventure, the 402-foot Droop Mountain tunnel.
Afterward you will enjoy a relaxing lunch along the Greenbrier River and a possible cave adventure. The evening activities consist of a delicious home cooked dinner, award ceremony, camp fire with plenty of story telling and other activities in celebration of the ride.
Sunday, May 15
Sunday, we will ride the last 25 miles of our event along the Greenbrier Trail. At the end of the ride enjoy a sumptuous victory lunch that awaits you before departing for home or ride back to Snowshoe.

About the Greenbrier River Trail
The Greenbrier River Trail is a West Virginia State Park which follows the C&O Railroad right-of-way along the Greenbrier River from Cass to Caldwell, a distance of 77 miles. Open year-round, it is nearly level (one percent grade) and closed to motorized vehicles.
There are picnic and primitive camping areas along the entire length, as well as swimming holes, boat pull-outs and some of the finest scenery in the State. Overnight lodging and meals lie within short distances from the Trail.
