Packet Pickup -- Packets may be picked up at the pool shelter between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm Friday night or 6:30 am and 7:30am race day. Quick pre-race briefing at 7:45 am.

Shirts -- All runners will receive a long sleeve Patagonia Capilene shirt. No Show, No Shirt. Please do not ask.

The race starts at the parking lot near the swimming pool. From the parks main entrance travel 1.4 miles and turn left.

Directions to Kanawha State Forest

From I-64 in Charleston, take Exit 58A, drive south on US 119. Turn left onto Oakwood Rd. at the second stop light, (following the brown and white routing signs)go 3/4 mile and take a left before George Washington High School continuing on Oakwood Road, turn right onto Bridge Rd., and right onto Connell Rd. At the bottom of Connell, make a sharp left onto Kanawha Forest Drive, follow to the forest entrance.

Time Limit

The time limit to complete the course is 8 1/2 hrs for both distances. 50k runners must reach Aid Station #4 (mile 15.8)by 12:15pm, and Aid Station 6 (mile 24.3) by 2:40pm. After cutoff times have past, sweepers will be sent to remove flagging and sweep the course. Please do not ask to continue run if cutoff times are not met.

Volunteers

Race day volunteers are needed for course sweep, Aid station workers, timing, testing the food, and other fun stuff. Be a volunteer! Please e-mail: runningsasquatch@yahoo.com

Drop Bags

If the 50k runners want to leave a drop bag at the halfway point, we will have a table designated for this (please label bag with race number and name). Or if you want to get something out of your vehicle, or put something in your vehicle, you are free to do so at the halfway point. There are also restrooms at this point.

Post Race Meal

After finishing the race, runners are welcome to some hot BBQ, hot soup, hot coffee, hot chocolate and other Bone Warming food and snacks.

Awards and Prizes

Individual awards will be given to the top (3) overall Male/Female Open and the 1st Place Masters (40 and over)Male/Female in both the 25k and 50k races. All runners who complete the course in the 8 1/2 hour time limit will receive a Finisher Award.

Refunds

A request for refund of entry fees, minus a $10 fee, will be granted up to 12/14/10. Please don't ask after this date.

The Frozen Sasquatch Trail Run is a two loop course for the 50k runners and one loop for the 25k runners. There will be four (4) aid stations on each loop. At the halfway point 50k runners will be going through the parking lot at the Start, so if you need to get into or drop something off at your vehicle you can. There will also be a location at this point for drop bags.

    Start to AS1- 5.1 miles

    Run through parking lot, left on main road approx. 1/4 mile. Right on Overlook Rock Trail (1 mile to ridge, 685' ascent) 1 mile to ridge. Left on Old Boundary Road, (rolling dirt road approx 3 miles). Left down Hemlock Falls Trail to AS1.

    AS1 to AS2- 3.4 miles (mile 8.5)

    Up Beech Glen Trail (3/4 mile to ridge, 400' ascent). Left on Wildcat Ridge Trail (nice rolling, then downhill with switchbacks). Right 1.5 miles on flat gravel/paved road through camping area. Cross road, go over bridge, through field to AS2.

    AS2 to AS3- 3.5 miles (mile 12)

    Climb up Johnson Trail (1.2 mile to ridge, 650' ascent). Left on Middle Ridge Road 1.3 miles. Left on gas well road (only a few hundred yards).Right on Middle Ridge Trail (This is a NICE, rolling trail).

    AS3 to 25k finish or 50k AS4- 3.8 miles (mile 15.8)

    Continue on Middle Ridge trail approx. 3.5 miles, crosses road 7 times, (pay close attention to flagging at this point.) Left on Middle Ridge Road. Left on Teaberry Trail (1 mile Downhill, 620' descent), Steep downhill-be careful. 25k runners sprint to the finish, 50k runners head to AS4.

    AS4 to AS5- 5.1 miles (mile 20.9)

    AS5 to AS6- 3.4 miles (mile 24.3)

    AS6 to AS 7- 3.5 miles (27.8)

    AS7 to 50k Finish- 3.8 miles (31.6)
