St. Mary's Tri-State Triathlon and Duathlon

About:
There are three events within the St. Marys Triathlon and Duathlon. They are the Triathlon at distances of a half-mile swim, 15 mile bike ride and a 2.9 run. The duathletes will do a 2.9 run, 15 mile bike ride and a 2.9 run. The triathlon relay will consist of 2 or 3 team members.
All races start at 8am and are chip timed.
Note: shuttle buses will be available on race morning starting about 6am and continuing until 7:30 am from the parking areas.
Bike Course:
Start at the beach and ride to route 152 on Beech Fork Road; turn right on 152 and then a quick left after the railroad tracks and another quick left onto Lynn Creek Road; turn right onto Lower Newcomb Creek Road and take this to Rt. 75 and turn right; take this to the end and turn right onto Rt. 152 and then back to Beech Fork.

This is the current 15 mile course we will be using. For those who have done the longer course you will see that the 2 major hills on the course have been taken out. This leaves the hills in and out of the beach area as the only 2 significant hills. Basically the course has become very fast.
Awards:
Age groups male and female every 10 years in the triathlon and duathlon as well as Clydesdale and Athena in the triathlon. Relay awards are for first 3 teams in female, male and mixed. In 2010 we are getting the awards from Blenko Glass.

Directions:
Beech Fork Lake is located 15 minutes from downtown Huntington. To get to Beech Fork Lake, take exit 8 off of I-64 and go south on Route 152.
Travel about 5 miles south and go left at Beech Fork Road (just past some railroad tracks (actually the second set that you will cross over the first is at a traffic light and Route 75)). Take Beech Fork Road about 4 miles.
You can park at the marina and walk along a path by the water to get to the beach. Except on race morning you can also take a right hand turn where the beach sign is and follow this 1.5 miles to the beach.
You might do this the night before and drop off your bike then. Note: shuttle buses will be available on race morning starting about 6am and continuing until 7:30 am from the parking areas.
