Pull Over!
Officer L.W. Brown leads the runners through the streets of Kanawha
Not a cloud in the sky over Kanawha City, and everyone in town seemed to wake up early to come to the Run with a Cop 5K Run and Walk. At this race, the police weren't just escorting the runners safely through the streets, some of them were actually running with them! As an officer on a gorgeous Harley Police motorcycle lead the way, racers began the flat, looping, 5K course with a lot of enthusiasm. Tim Howard's (17.11), whole family watched as he pounded the pavement to the finish line and a first place trophy.

Family Time
The Run with a Cop 5K was a family affair
Duane Dombek (17.35), and John Frazier (17.43), were not far behind each other as they raced the last mile of the course to capture second and third. With an impressive display of speed, Kelly Mcgraw (18.15), took eighth place overall and finished as the first place woman. Family members cheered at the finish as the runners and walkers came in. Even Kim & Bob Aaron from channel WCHS 8/Fox 11 were there to capture the event on camera! The highest sponsor donation award went to Tessa Hager who raised $430. Way to go Tessa! Many thanks to Pam Anderson, the race director who really made this event special. All race proceeds went to help the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and to the Kanawha County Special Olympics. Don't forget about the Mountaineer Spirit 5 Mile Run & 2 Mile Fun Walk! It's at the same location, on Saturday, June 19th at 8 AM. We'll see you back in Kanawha City!
