Walkers
A fine morning for a walk in the forest
The lush beauty of the Kanawha State Forest made the Dream Run 5K, and the 2 Mile Walk, a dream-like event. Despite the cloudy skies and intense humidity, many runners and walkers turned out for the event. The out-and-back course was described by runners as scenic and very fast. At 8:30am, with the pavement still damp from early morning showers, over 100 enthusiastic racers took to the forest.

Glenn Baldwin (16:40) dominated the race and won first place overall for the men. Following not too far behind were second place Jared Smith (16:56) and third place James Groves (17:17).

Beauty
Rain or shine, hot or cold, the forest is beautiful
In the women's division, Sara Walker (19:06) set the pace to first place while finishing an impressive 11th overall. She was followed to the finish by second place Kelli Mace (21:27) and third place Ryan Posey (22:29).

Most participants didn't leave empty-handed due to the tremendous amount of donations from local businesses for the raffle. Thanks go to the Kanawha Valley Chapter of Credit Unions, all those Make-A-Wish volunteers and all the others who volunteered and donated to make this race possible.
