WVU Cyclocross
EJ Sigety cruisin' to a win
The WVU Cycling Club's cyclocross race #1 began under overcast skies and cold temperatures in White Park on Saturday. The course was as dry as could be hoped for considering the rain the night before.

The day started of with the C-category racers racing 7 laps around the White Park course. 22 year old Nathan Ferguson came away with the victory. As the B race started there was some frozen precipitation falling, but that didn't stop a three man group from riding away from the field. Collin Fridley, Kevin Leyh and the C race winner Nathan Ferguson battled neck and neck much of the 9 lap race. In the end it was Fridley and Leyh pulling away from Ferguson. At the finish WVU cycling club's Collin Fridely was edged out by 17 year old Kevin Leyh for the win.

The final race of the day was the A-Class race and it was dominated by E.J. Sigety. Sigety showed his experience and pulled away at the start and lapped the whole field, except for second place finisher Ernesto Marenchin, in the 14 lap race.

The West Virginia cycling club would like to thank Jeff Berryman of Boparc for allowing the use of the park, The Morgantown Utility Board for opening the gates, Pathfinder of Morgantown for us of radios and one fine tent, to Kim Stearns for doctorial support, and to iPlayOutside.com for covering the race. Hope to see everyone at race number 2 in November.
