Ripley has the largest small city 4th of July Celebration in the nation, with a parade, carnival, and stage entertainment! The Firecracker 5K Race will be run just before the parade in front of 40,000 people!

New for 2000, a Fun Walk will be added for those wishing to participate in a non-competitive event. Stay tuned for more details.

WHEN: Tuesday, July 4th, 2000

WHERE: On Main Street in Ripley, WV

REGISTRATION: Begins at 10:00 at the Calvery Methodist Church across from the Jackson County Court House.

RACE TIME: Starts promptly at 11:30 AM

ENTRY FEE: Pre-registered - $12.00, Day of the race - $14.00
Family (all members) - $18.00 (Sorry, no refunds are given.)

COURSE: A flat, fast run through downtown Ripley.

PRIZES: 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Overall Male & Female
1st, 2nd, & 3rd Male & Female awards in the following categories:

14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over.
Clydesdale Division: 200-224, 224-250, 250-Over

PARKING: If you wish to leave immediately following the Firecracker 5K Race, park at Wal-Mart or the West Ripley Shopping Plaza just off the I-77 Ripley exit and walk 1/2 mile to downtown. If you wish to stay and watch the parade, there is free parking available behind the Calvery Methodist Church. The crowds are huge, so come early.

FACILITIES: Many care, water, restrooms, changing rooms and refreshments will provided.

AWARDS CEREMONY: The ceremony will be as early as possible immediately following the race so that participants may leave prior to the parade.
