Side by side racing
The annual Blackberry Festival in Clarksburg got off to a quick start on Saturday morning with over 140 runners coming out to cover the course on a very muggy morning. The race featured 2 loops and was very spectator friendly because all participants passed by twice.

In the end Larry Taylor of Fayetteville continued his dominance of the CAR Series covering the course in 15:54. He finishing over a full minute ahead of second place runner Aaron Kaylor who crossed in 17:16. This was the fourth time Taylor has run in this race and this was his fastest time so far. Taylor was also able to maintain his lead over Kaylor in the CARS point series. He liked the two loops that the course provided because you can get a feel for the course on the first loop and then react accordingly the second time around.

On the women's side Heather McDaniel of Grafton crossed the finish line first in a time of 19:41. Clara Grandt grabbed second place in a time of 21:23. According to McDaniel the course was great except at the sharp turns in the loops, "You lose your momentum."

After the race, as the awards were being passed out, the Blackberry Festival began to come to life. A thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped put the race on and to RunWV.com for getting us the results. Also don't forget to check the updated CAR Series standing's on www.runwv.com.
