The River City Runners Ninth Annual Couples Classic 5K was run Feb.9 at the "Adventure Pursuits Inc" headquarters in Parkersburg. The weather decided to cooperate with the Temperature rising into the low 30's and only a slight breeze for a change. Parkersburg's Dave Ferrell (17:35)set the course record (this is the first race on the new course)followed by West Union's own Josh Weekley (18:14) and Ryan Johnson (18:47), also from Parkersburg.

The Women's race was a close one, with only a few seconds separating the leaders. It was ultimately won by Tonya Johns (22:14) of Whipple, Ohio. Second and Third place reversed themselves from the January race with Ravenswood native Leslie Thomas (22:31) in second and Belpre, Ohio's Sara Foy (22:35) third.

The Men's Race-walk was again won by Roger Quimby (31:52) of Beverly,OH followed by Belpre's Bernard Fries (32:35). And in third was Mark Rooper (33:02) of Scott Depot, WV.

In the Women's Race-walk it was Barb Kornbau from Wellsville, Ohio setting her own course record of 30:15. Second was Martha Marks (34:35) of Belpre and Marietta Ohio's Mary Anne Bush (35:44) was third.

The Final Winter Series Race, the Leprechaun 5K, will be on March 9 at the Sand Hill UM Church in Boaz, WV.
