Race Start
Off and running in Uniontown
It was a beautiful fall day in Uniontown for the second annual Uniontown Police Emergency Services Unit 5K Run/Walk. After a cloudy morning the sun came out for the race.

The race started and finished at the Uniontown Fireman's Social Hall on Dunbar Street. This was a flat out and back course for the runners and walkers. This year 50 runners and 36 walkers came out to support the Uniontown Police Emergency Services Unit. All the money from the race goes to purchasing equipment and supplies for the Police E.S.U.

Taking the win this year was Francis Molinaro form Connellsville with a time of 18:09. Coming in a strong second was Mark Shrader from McClellandtown with a time of 18:51. He was followed closely by Josh Crable from Adah, PA with a time of 19:05.

As for the women's runners, the winner was Susan Claar from Uniontown with a time of 23:39. Following Susan was Barb Klotz from Brierhill for second with a time of 24:18. And rounding it out in third was Anne Dilger from Silver Springs with a time of 24:34.

Soon after the run, the 5K Walk started. The men's winner was Craig Baer from Fort Hill, PA with a time of 29:41. Coming in second place was Uniontown's own Corky Johnston with a time of 32:39. And, rounding out the top three was Clyde Johnson from Farmington with a time of 33:24.

As for the women's walk, Kathy Paes from Fredericktown took the win with a time of 32:11. She was followed by Laura Jericho from Dunbar, PA in second place with a time of 34:55. Finishing in third was Liz Dash from Uniontown with a time of 36:57.

After the race, the competitors enjoyed a tremendous amount of food such as pizza and Subway Subs. Also, two random prizes were given out this year. The prizes were weekend getaways to Seven Springs Ski Resort and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. What great random prizes!!! That alone was a good reason the run this race.

Thanks to everyone that helped out with the race, and the support for the Uniontown Police Emergency Services Unit. What a GOOD RACE!!
