Auggies Race
Race for our feline friends
Auggie's Tale told by Tom Rownd...
At one time or another in our lives, most of us have been privileged to have had a pet with whom we were able to establish a unique bond. I was fortunate to have a seven year relationship with a sleek, black cat with radiant green eyes. When Auggie was accidentally killed on January 29, 1999, I was heart sick knowing that I would never see my faithful companion again. I decided, however, to do something positive in his memory and contacted the Ohio County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals about developing an annual race in his name, with all of the proceeds going to the Society's essential programming. Thanks to the hard work of many caring individuals, Auggie's 5K Run & Walk has become a fundraising activity which will abet the Society's efforts to care for unfortunate cats and dogs in the area; and it will continually remind me of a playful and loving cat.
