Fall Back
Smile, you're on iPlayOutside!
The annual Fall Back 5K benefited the Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of Fayette, Inc. Interfaith is a local organization affiliated with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundations Faith in Action program, that reaches out to the elderly to provide needed services such as medical/social transportation, grocery shopping, friendly visitation, household chores, links to available community services, and more.

Blessed with sunny skies and Steeler's football, the folks of Uniontown were happy to be a part of the good cause. It was Halloween day, so quite a few racers dressed in their best costumes hoping to win an award.

Fall Back
Brandon Miles leads the way
The fairly flat course started at the township's recreational building and wound it's way through a quite residential neighborhood before heading back to SERJ Timing Service's finishing line.

Present leader of the 2004 Morgantown Area Grand Prix Series, Brandon Miles was the first one spotted near the finish at the last half mile of the course. Showing school spirit in his West Virginia University track jersey, Miles won with the fastest time of the day, 16:45. Racing proud for his hometown Uniontown, Ben Shinsky finished second in 17:44 with Heath Piper (17:53) of Washington, PA nine seconds behind in third.

Fall Back
Battling for second place
Loren Cortopassi claimed first for the women in 22:13. The race for second was tight, with Michelle Naymick and Jenny Striner battling from the last half mile to the line. It was Naymick who extended her lead to 3 seconds finishing in 22:33. Striner glided in for third.

Overall in the 5K Walk was Grenaville Guthrie (25:44) of Markleysburg, PA. Guthrie held a five second lead over Frank Mulich (25:49).

After the race was over, participants gathered in the gym for holiday refreshments. Smiles could be seen all around as many talked of the Steeler game to be played later that day and Halloween festivities.
