Parents' Place (parentsplacewv.org) has approximately ninety members and is run by approximately 25 volunteer board members.
Not only has Parents' Place remained a non-profit, non-denominational support group for parents since 1982, it now offers preschool classes for children 1 to 5 years of age.
Participants ran and walked a wide loop starting at Jack Roberts Park, out through White Park and back through the local neighborhood streets.
Several attendees mentioned how nice it is to have a green space like
Jack Roberts Park nearby (the park is maintained by BOPARC).
She said it was a great course and a little challenging for beginners, which is good as she said she'd run in it again next year.
The Klinke family was in from Virginia and took part in the race. They said the 5K was a fun and nicely rolling course. They thought the race was a great activity for kids, particularly that all the kids got medals for participating.
Amy Robbins said this was her 4th Parents' Place 5K and that it was awesome and hilly as always. Her son James liked the kids race and he did well.
After the 5K, all the kids were running rampant (in a good way) around the park and playing on the various playground gear. Getting them lined up for the various kid races was an effort in patience, but it went off without a hitch! Every kid I spoke with said they had a great time and that they really liked the medals.
