Cheat Mountain Ultra - WVMBA Ultra #4
DirtRag has announced that The Pace is Right at the Ultra Lite!
Note from race director, Mike Miller (5/29/2013): "This is my 2nd year in charge of this race. Last year's race was mostly a one man affair with no bling (thanks to Chris Phillips for his help). With Ben Klimas' help, this year's race will be more pro, with cash awards ($200 to Men's open winner), a prize table, fully stocked aid stations, timing by Don Parks, and a post race pasta feed. The race fee will be $50. Also, Ben and I have decided to end the race at the top of Cheat Mountain. We feel racing down the mountain on a forest road is simply too dangerous. With this in mind, we will have a fully stocked aid station at the finish line, with food, drinks, and shaded chairs. Racers will be able to relax, tell a few lies, and fuel up before the leisurely ride back to the 4H camp, and the awards ceremony."
This race was previously held in 2006 and 2007 by former WVMBA president, and infamous mountain man, Greg Moore. It features primitive camping, ridges, a downhill section and more all through the Cheat Mountain wilderness.
Race starts and finishes at 4-H Camp Pioneer near Beverly, WV.
