The Pond Cross was WET & wild

From sunny skies to spring like rains the show must go on and it did, all week long. From the end of February to the beginning of March, WinterBlast! sponsored by Coca Cola and hosted by Wisp at Deep Creek Resort was a celebration like no other.

It was time to get outside on the slopes with family and friends for some winter fun and help out many great causes in the Garrett County area of Maryland. iPlayOutside was there for many of the WinterBlast! events.

Mid-Atlantic Boarder Series

Sunday, March 7th: We were amazed as our fearless reporter on crutches, Don Parks, stood outside in the rain, wind, and lightning to catch much of the Pond Crossing (Picture Sets above on this page) and Mason/Dixon & Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series Regional Finals Slopestyle competition action.

Big Air Finals at Wisp

Saturday, March 6th: The Ford Built Tough Snow Series- Big Air Finals got underway at the Savage II Terrain Park. Reporter Julz Black was on the scene on top of the third table top snapping shot after shot. The boyz and girls were getting big air, and despite the cloud cover, the event had an excellent showing! Note: The Ford Built Tough Snow Series 1/2 Pipe event was cancelled for that day.

Sunday, February 29th: Reporter Don Parks was at it again, only this time the slope was fast instead instead of slick as the Maryland Governor's Cup Giant Slalom screamed it's way down expert slope - Squirrel Cage.

Boxcar Derby fun for all

Saturday, February 28th: We welcome "newbe" reporters to the scene Katy Black and Elise Belcher who went all out to get the inside scoop on the Deep Creek Lions Club Cardboard Boxcar Derby at Bear Claw Snow Tubing Park. This special event benefitted the Lions Club Blind Skiers and other local Lions Programs. With many categories and cash prizes to win, this event was truly fun for everyone!

WinterBlast! is held every year at Wisp at Deep Creek Mountain Resort. This week long annual event hosts many subevents that benefit local Garret County fundraisers. It's for many great causes, and just plain fun for the whole family to enjoy. Wisp provides many specials on rooms, lift tickets, lodging, and even food and drink specials during this spectacular event. If you missed it this year, then be sure to join us next year for a time you won't forget.
