Strolling to the finish
Gene's Beer Garden, or just plain "Gene's" as the locals call it, has been in town since the days of Jerry West, West Virginia University's (WVU) most famous athlete. Marked as a great place for WVU fans, it's small town bar atmosphere attracts people from all walks of life.

The Gene's Run For Special Olympics entered it's 22nd year in 2008 with over 150 participants.

The top two overalls were Morgantown residents. Jay Dolmage, 30, challenged the 4-mile course earning the best overall time in 10 years. Dolmage won with a time of 19:37.20.

Adam Frohnapfel, who's been heating up area races with top overall finishes this summer, crossed for second in 21:32.69. Derek Bolyard, Newburg WV, held off Mathew Bright by seconds to earn the third place win.

Heather Parks, Bruceton Mills, WV, returned to claim her top spot after taking 2007 off to have a child. Returning with kick, she took home 8th overall and the first place women's prize with a time of 24:35.81.

Parks leaps into second in the overall race for Enduarnce Series points for the MAGP Series - Presented by Dynamic Physical Therapy. She trails Sue Heavner by only three points.

Jen Sober (25:17.79) of nearby Mchenry, MD remained ahead of Aubrey Moskal (25:28.11) for second place. Sober remains in third for overall Endaurance points with 497.

Murshid Latif still leads in overall Endurance points with 559. Jim Banks has 547, steady in second with Jim Cummings in third with 502.

Only two races remain in the Endurance Series, so get your points while you can!

Saturday, October 25th join us at the Alpha Phi Race for Your Heart 10K/5K-MAGP Endurance #8 in Morgantown, WV on the Caperton Rail Trail, Star City.

November 23rd the K of C Rowlesburg 10K and 5K Run - MAGP Endurance #9 on Route 72 along the Cheat River. The run/walk starts in Rowlesburg, WV at the City Park.
