Choose Your Distance: You have the option of a 13.2 or 7.5 mile run, or a 4.5-mile walk. All of the courses wander through deep hard wood forests and offer spectacular views of the river and the historic town of Thurmond 1,000 feet below. So whether you come for some great competition or a leisurely jog or stroll, you'll enjoy every step of your trek over some of the most scenic paths in the state.Bring along family and friends to enjoy some of the other amenities at ACE Adventure Center. The full-service dining lodge, the Lost Paddle Bar and Grill, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding are just a few of the many adventures to be had. ACE even provides free camping to racers! But for those of you who look for more comfy lodging, check out our chalets and cabins (be sure to reserve these early!). Don't miss this great opportunity to enjoy the Gorge-ous autumn! RACE PRIZES: First Place overall male & female winners in both trail run races will be awarded cash prizes. Second and Third Place overall male & female winners will be awarded prizes. In the trail walk, first, second and third place overall male and female winners will be awarded prizes. Medals to be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place in all divisions. LODGING: Available at the event site are chalets with hot tubs, cabin tents with beds, primitive campsites, bunkhouses & group tents, along with full service RV hookups and showerhouses. FREE camping is available to racers. Lodging registration can be made onsite, but to ensure availability, advance reservations are recommended. DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, we do not control the weather. No refunds will be issued after Oct. 23rd or due to cold, snowy, sleeting, rainy, hot, humid, or uncomfortable conditions. Race management has the right to adjust the course in the event of weather or unsafe conditions.
About WVMTR: The objective of the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners is to encourage running and the healthy, positive qualities running encompasses. They achieve this by holding a trail run series, races, non-competitive club runs, social events, assisting other organizations with running events, and in general just running around having fun. They are a non-profit organization and are affiliated with the Road Runners Club of America.
