The Friends of the Cheat celebrated their largest turn-out ever for their 4th annual Cheat Fest 5K Run and Walk. Over 100 racers gathered at the Preston County Country Club in Kingwood, WV.

As part of the 2008 Morgantown Area Grand Prix Sprint Series Presented by Dynamic Physical Therapy, the event was number file out of eleven races.

Overall race winner, Todd Lagimonier of Kingston, New Hampshire, finished the 5K in 16:49.

At the last sprint race, the Parents Place 5K, Murshid Latif lead the sprint series points. With his 2nd place win at Cheat with a time of 17:03, Larry Taylor surpassed Latif by 27 points making him the new leader.

Morgantowner, Travis Cyphert (17:33), rounded out the top spots.

Hey, nice race shirts!
Jenn Sober of Mchenry, Maryland bested her last sprint performance from second to first with a time of 19:36 to claim the women's overall top spot. She finished 10th overall. Her son sported his favorite shirt "My Mom Rules."

Sherry Spilker of Fayetteville, WV took second with a time of 21:02 and Tammy Turner (21:14), of Morgantown, currently 10th overall in the sprint points race, crossed the line as the third female finisher.

Many racers enjoyed the Cheat Festival afterwards, which offered a wide variety of mountain music, arts, and food.

The next MAGP Sprint Series race is the Albert Gallatin Regatta 5K starting at 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 25. Join us at Point Marion Community Park in Point Marion, Pennsylvania for Memorial Day fun including post race refreshments.
